Belotero Treatment
Belotero fillers were approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2011 and has become an exceedingly popular brand for those seeking treatment of fine facial lines. The type of procedure will determine how many injections are required.
What is Belotero?
Belotero is a dermal filler treatment that’s meant to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and to also bring volume and fullness to specific parts of the face. It is made up of a gel-like substance built on a base of hyaluronic acid that is injected under the skin. This treatment is mostly intended for use around the face, specifically cheeks, temples and lips, but can be applied elsewhere as well.
How does Belotero work?
Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our bodies and helps produce collagen. As we age, this process slows down, allowing wrinkles to form and skin to sag.
With a small needle, Belotero is injected just underneath the skin, and depending on the procedure, these injections can take between 15 and 60 minutes to complete. Expect the full effect of your Belotero treatment to be visible almost immediately.
What’s the difference between Juvéderm, Belotero & Restylane?
Juvéderm, Belotero and Restylane are the three brands of dermal fillers offered at Burlington Medical Aesthetics. All three options are made from hyaluronic acid. The difference in these three face fillers is that they are designed for treating particular areas.
Belotero is also good for mid-depth wrinkles and creases but tends to be slightly thicker than Juvéderm and Restylane. It can be used anywhere on the face.

Belotero FAQs
What areas are commonly treated by Belotero?
Belotero injections are a common cosmetic procedure that can be applied to various areas of the face. The 3 most common sites people target with Belotero are:
- Cheeks
- Lips
- Temples
What is the standard procedure like?
When undergoing Belotero treatment, the patient is placed on an exam table, usually in a sitting or upright position. Treatment areas are mapped and then cleaned with a non-alcoholic solution to maintain sterility. To prevent bleeding or bruising, the physician will often apply pressure around the target site as the injection is administered. The amount/type of wrinkles determines how many injections are needed.
Is Belotero treatment painful?
Belotero injections are administered using a small needle. As such, there is potential for a minor amount of discomfort. Belotero also contains lidocaine, which helps combat any associated pain during the treatment. For additional pain management, patients may request a topical anesthetic.
How long is the average session?
Belotero treatment sessions vary from patient to patient, but typically last between 15 and 60 minutes.
How safe is Belotero treatment?
Belotero® is a hyaluronic acid-based product, a substance that is naturally produced by our bodies. As such, most people are candidates for treatment. Belotero® treatment is considered safe by the medical community and was approved for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2011.
As with any medically prescribed substance, it is important to discuss any concerns you may have with a trained health practitioner.
What are the main benefits of Juvéderm?
The main benefit to Belotero treatment is that it reduces the appearance of wrinkles in the facial area.
How quickly can I see results?
The effects of Belotero injections are usually noticeable almost immediately.
Should I expect any side effects?
Any medical procedure has risks. The most common side effect reported by patients is slight swelling around injection sites. It’s important that you consult with your family doctor and/or a trained dermatologist to assess any potential risks considering your own medical history.
What should I expect in terms of recovery time?
In general, there is very little, if any, recovery time associated with a standard Belotero injection.
How often should appointments be booked?
Belotero injections are a temporary solution that last approximately six months to two years. As effects wear off and depending on user physiology, we recommend that you consult with our beauty care specialists to determine when another injection should be considered.
How much per procedure?
Burlington Medical Aesthetics provides cosmetic Belotero treatments that are offered at comparable price points. For more information on pricing and payment options, contact our beauty care specialists today.
